Navigating Medicare with Confidence

Diving into Medicare can feel overwhelming—but it doesn’t have to. Starting at age 65, Medicare is your ticket to peace of mind with hospital care, doctor visits, prescription medications, and more. It's not one-size-fits-all—and that’s exactly why planning matters.

Who Is Eligible for Medicare?

  • Turning 65 (you can enroll 3 months before, during your birth month, and 3 months after)

  • Under 65, but with specific disabilities

  • All ages, if you have End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure)

Understanding the Parts of Medicare

  • Part A – Hospital Coverage
Covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing, hospice, and some home health care. Most people pay $0 for Part A if they’ve worked 10 years or more.

  • Part B – Medical Coverage
Covers doctor visits, outpatient care, therapy, and preventive services. It does have a monthly premium and coinsurance.

  • Part D – Prescription Drugs
You choose a plan through a private insurer to help lower your medication costs. Missing enrollment windows may mean paying a penalty later.

  • Part C – Medicare Advantage
A bundled alternative offered by private insurance companies. It combines Parts A, B, and usually D—with perks like dental, vision, and caps on out-of-pocket costs.

Why Planning Ahead Is Essential

Enrollment periods aren't flexible—and skipping them can lead to costly penalties or gaps in your coverage. Planning before you turn 65 ensures:

  • You're eligible for the best plans based on your health, finances, and lifestyle

  • You stay in-network with preferred doctors and hospitals

  • You avoid extra costs by meeting deadlines
